FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
November 20, 2003
STI International, Inc. of Georgetown, Texas announced today that they have
acquired all of the physical and intellectual assets of what was previously
known as Lone Star Armament in Stephenville, Texas.
STI has been long noted in the industry for it’s "2011" series of
semi-automatic handguns built on a patented Modular Frame system, and for
their high quality 1911 compatible parts. They, in recent years, became one
of the industries preeminent producers of 1911 pistols with the introduction
of their "Trojan" series of pistols. With this year’s introduction of the
"Master" and "Duty" series of single stack firearms, they rounded out their
1911 high-end "specialty" line.
Lone Star Armament, a relative new comer on the 1911 scene, quickly
established themselves as a mass producer of high quality forged and bar
stock frames and slides to other high end manufacturers in the 1911
community. When they introduced their own "Lawman" and "Ranger" .45ACP
series at the NASGW and SHOT Shows in 2002-2003, they were quickly
recognized as a "comer" in that higher end, "traditionalist", 1911 market.
David L. Skinner, President and CEO of STI International, stated that this
acquisition was a natural and welcome fit for STI’s current and future
production and product needs. He also observed that, while the Lone Star
name has been phased out, that fine line of forged frames, slides, and
firearms will still be offered to the consumer. Additionally, he said, it is
STI’s intent and desire to utilize the experience and reputation that they
have earned to expand their market outward.
This purchase increases STI’s pistol production capacity two fold and their
component capabilities by a factor of five. STI will continue to fill the
demand from their own Distribution and Dealer network as well as those
carried forward in the acquisition. |
