STI -- SkinnErgram #58

August 20, 2003 SkinnErgram #58

Hi Guys,

Damn, time flies when you’re having fun!

Pauletta and I were back in Europe for the "2nd Annual STI European Open Championship” and the French Level III in May. We also went back to the Czech Republic last week. Had a great time. We’ll be back! Our remaining schedule for the year is Oregon, Mississippi, and Sri Lanka in September, Ecuador in October, and maybe Thailand in December. Don and/or Chris will be at most of the other domestic events.

The three new pistols are now available. RangeMaster, TargetMaster, Duty One. Pre-orders took all of the first production run but we should have more available in just a couple of weeks. If you have an interest, you need to get your orders in.

Lead times (most products) are holding at 6-8 weeks. Don’t despair! We’re gaining on it. We expect to be back in the 4-6 week time frame soon and, hopefully, have some in the safe by the end of the year. It will probably be October or November before we are able to build more of the "LS” and "BLS” models since we are playing catch up on everything else.

O.K.! Provisionally, based on responses from you guys and the rest of our customer base, we’re going to offer Trojan style "Slide to Frame Fits” and "Short Blocks”, as well as a "Bucket of Parts”, DOMESTICALLY ONLY, for a period. (Bucket of Parts = Frame, slide, barrel. All unfit.) These will be with ramped frames and barrels only. Bull or Bushing. Please see the price list for options. NO frame kits by themselves. No checkering or STIppling. NONE of the forgoing with the "Master” series frame.

The Model 22XX parts and assemblies are catching on very well. A little expensive, but very much worth it.

You all should have (if you don’t, please call) the latest version of the price list with the options that we offer. If an item that you want installed on a gun does not appear in the "Option” column beside that gun, do not even ask unless you are prepared to pay for a custom gun. This list was not simply done on a whim. There are reasons for its’ limits, including our efforts to catch up with the backlog.

Additionally, between now and the end of the year, we are installing and implementing a completely new computer system, hardware and software, to schedule, monitor, and measure the factory. If I understand it correctly, and we have purchased the right modules, by the middle of next year you should be able to enter your own orders AND track their progress through the plant.
Coooooooool!

Please check our website very closely for your website and Email listing. Several of you have added or changed things that we are unaware of. Feel free to contact our Webmaster directly with these changes.

We are considering putting on a workshop for gunsmiths in Europe next year and are considering establishing a "Warrantee Center” there. If you have interest or comments, please let us know.

If we hear no major negatives from you guys, we’re going to discontinue stainless slides, frames, and guns at the end of the year. The, currently, stainless slides on the VIP, Viper, Ranger, Ranger II, and Tactical Lite would be converted to 4140 blued steel.

Just a quick note for you Export guys: Pauletta says that the State Department is now insisting on a DSP-83 if there are more than 50 major items on your order. Major means guns, barrels, slides, etc. You can download these forms at www.pmdtc.org Remember, to process an order, she will always need:

1) Permit (certified or original)

2) Translation (if the permit is not in English)

3) Purchase Order (must match the permit and be on your companies letterhead)

4) DSP-83 (if the order contains more than 50 major items)

Have fun. Sell a bunch. Do good. Not necessarily in that order!
