STI -- SkinnErgram #66

May 20, 2004 SkinnErgram #66
Hi Guys,

The Custom Shop will continue to stay closed for at least another 3 months.

If some of you Distributors (both foreign and domestic) have strong Dealers who could benefit from the new wall poster, please let us know and we'll accommodate you. If some of you “Preferred Dealers” or “Range Program” participants operate more than one location, we'll take care of you.

The website should now list only Distributors, Preferred Dealers, and Range Program participants, companies that carry STI guns in their inventory. Other Dealers who “order on order” can be found under the FFL Locator. Please check your listed information carefully and let us know about errors, if any. If you are not familiar with the “SkinnErgram” system, go to the website and click on “What's New”.

We are using up the last of the material for Para Ordnance replacement parts. We'll stock ‘em ‘til they're gone. Then, triggers, mag catches, magazines, and magazine replacement bodies for Para 's will become a thing of the past. Other “we'll stock ‘em ‘til their gone” items are S-1 & S-2 compensators and grip bushing installation/removal tools. If you have a continuing market for any of these items, you need to get ‘em now.

As an update, 1911 steel mainspring housings and magwells are now available on some models and standard on others, as well as procurable individually. Blue only.

Even though the RecoilMaster went over as “the greatest thing since sliced bread”, we've made some improvements. Thicker materials, greater radiuses, different heat treat, etc. (Added the butter and jelly?)

It's now the time of year when I ask you: “What are the next things that we should be working on?” We're open to suggestion within limits. No revolvers. No double action autos. No AR-15's. No shotguns.

Thoughts that we've had so far include: A reintroduction of the “Ranger” in a true Officers size. Adding a complete rifle (with a standard stock) to our Model 22XX lines of assemblies. A 1911 “clone” with the LS linkless barrel system, RecoilMaster, and sidebar extractor. A Commander length, single stack, tactical pistol. An “upscale” 1911. (with accuracy guarantee?) A “downscale” 2011 for the Military/Law Enforcement market.

How about a political question for you “domestics”? Do you think, at this point, that the 1994 assault weapons law will “sunset” or not? Your opinions will help us plan how to better position ourselves to serve you later this year and for most of next.

Another large CNC machine hit the floor this week. That's two more since the Lone Star asset acquisition.

Welcome aboard to Len Kucey of the “ Phoenix Indoor Range and Gun Shop” in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada . Len's operation joins our growing list of ranges that stock STI guns for demonstration purposes. He is also our latest graduate of the “STI Service What You Sell” class, having spent a week working in our plant with our gunsmiths.

Did I mention that David Cupp has been transferred into the Sales Dept.? Happened about a month ago. He's working with our O.E.M. base and picking up the increased Domestic overflow from Melvin. Also traveling some with Don Kemble. Pauletta is still solo on the International desk. Don is still the “King of the Freebies”.

Dave C. is a ten-year STI veteran. Spent most of that period in the Gunsmith Dept. Was a top grade IPSC shooter for many years and is providing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the sales cadre and to our customer base. He's tough, use him.

For you IPSC connected European Distributors, Pauletta and I will be at the “STI European Championship” in Philipsburg , Germany this month from the 26 th to the 31 st . We'll also be at the Level IV “European Championship” ( Czech Republic ) in August. Our only other “out of country” foray this year may be to Asia in November.

Sell a bunch. Have fun. Do good. Not necessarily in that order!
