The Continuing Evolution  of the 1911   

George Smith epitomizes the saying. “A gun that is bred to win must have a champion’s bloodlines.” Smith is a USPSA Master-class shooter with a string of titles and championship trophies under his name.

“As a shooter, I have a better understanding of how the gun needs to perform at matches,” he says.

Smith was a machinist and welder before he began working for a gunsmithing company. Six years later, he established Evolution Gun Works. Today, it’s one of the nation’s best equipped gun shops, know for its stare-of-the-art 1911 parts.

Doug Koenig, Todd Jarrett and Sharon Edington are among the dozens of top shooters who use guns bearing the EGW logo. They’ve adopted the principal that’s been key to Smith’s success: “Reliability is the name of the game.”
