The Continuing Evolution  of the 1911   

He’s hardly your typical neighborhood “parts changer” holed up in his basement with a bag full of Wilson parts to slap onto your GI .45. Bill Laughridge built his reputation by combining good, old-fashioned elbow grease and state-of-the-art technology.

Laughridge began hobby gunsmithing in high school and, after graduation from college, landed a part-time gunsmithing job at a local shop. When this outfit went under, he was hired to run the gunsmithing department at a sporting goods store. Four years later, he bought the business and established his own company, Cylinder & Slide. That was 1978,

Today, Cylinder & Slide is a full custom shop known for producing flawless race gun. The company also manufactures aftermarket parts for the Browning Hi-Power and 1911-style pistols.

Laughridge now focuses on administrative duties, but all guns engraved with the company’s name are crafted according to the master gunsmith’s specifications. C& S guns are impeccably accurate and reliable.
